Users based in China may experience issues completing their first login.
After receiving the welcome email and clicking on the activation token within 1 hour, they are redirected to Portal 3.0 and may see the following error message:
Firebase error: (auth/network request failed)
This issue is likely caused by China's firewall regulations, which may block Google services that we use to manage Portal access.
The regulations can vary across regions, so while some users may be able to bypass them, others may not.
Please advise the client to:
- Consult their IT team to whitelist the Google API URL (https://identitytoolkit.googleapis.com/) from their firewall.
- Once whitelisting is confirmed, send a new activation email (Admin >> Users >> click on “Resend Activation Link”). Then, ask the customer to try logging in again.
If login activation issues persist, they may be located in a region with major restrictions. Their IT department can usually confirm this. Unfortunately, the only solution for the customer in this situation is to use a VPN to bypass the restrictions.
